The funds were raised in a month-long crowdfunding campaign organised jointly by the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies and Stand Up which ended on Friday December 6.
NSW Jewish Board of Deputies president Lesli Berger said: “The Jewish community is proud to have put up its hand to help our fellow-Australians in a meaningful way as a practical response to the horrendous bushfires. We acknowledge all those who have generously supported our campaign, and we hope these funds will help ease the burden of some of those who have lost so much. We are currently in active discussion regarding where to disburse the funds so as to achieve the maximum benefit.”
