Social Harmony Projects in schools

The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies initiated, developed and runs a number of successful and ongoing interfaith and intercultural programs involving almost 1,000 students across the state annually. These include:
- Youth Encounters
This project has been running since 2004 and brings together almost 400 Jewish, Muslim and Christian Year 10 students in a bridge-building interfaith exchange for 3 meetings over the year.
- Respect, Understanding and Acceptance (RUA) project
This project brings together groups of up to 250 Year 9 students from Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, Armenian and state schools for 3 meetings over the year. The focus is on anti-racism and cultural exchange.
- Sports for Harmony
In 2008 we began the incorporation of sport into our interfaith and intercultural programming through AusSport, with whom we have cooperated on large projects for hundreds of Year 4-6 Jewish, Muslim, Indigenous and other students.
